She will walk onto the Chiles Center court tonight already
considered the best women's player in college basketball
today.
But nobody wants to stop there when they talk about
Tennessee junior Chamique Holdsclaw, a 6-foot-2 forward
who will lead the top-ranked Volunteers against the
Portland Pilots at 5 p.m.
Some of the most accomplished players of all time say
Holdsclaw can become the best to ever play the game.
Some say she will revolutionize women's basketball, taking
it to a broader fan base with her flashy spin moves, her
smooth jump shot and humble attitude.
But right now, Holdsclaw simply is the best college player in
the nation. Her judgment day with the sport's elite is in the
future, which starts with the next practice, the next game.
And tonight is that next game in her pursuit of greatness.
